Directed by renowned director Hamid Pourazari, U-turn was an environmental theatre production held in the multi-storey parking lot of Amirkabir University in Tehran.
The performance featured 50 interconnected short stories, each set in a car or location within the parking structure, focusing on the challenges and lives of college students, with some stories inspired by real events. Audience members followed instructions to navigate the space and experience the stories.
With 36 actors and 40 audience members each night, the production was an intense experience, reflecting the social climate following the 2009 Iranian election protests. Despite its success, the show was halted after 28 nights.
